Steve Royle

Steve Royle is an actor, writer, comedian, juggler, and most recently became a regular presenter on BBC Radio Lancashire.

He has just completed a few months as “Special Guest” on Dave Spikey’s “Living The Dream Tour”, and sold out his first “Steve Royle Comedy Extravaganza” show at the Oldham Coliseum Theatre in March. He is a regular Television “warm-up” for programmes such as “Question Of Sport” and “Stars In Their Eyes”.

Steve is a regular headline act at The Comedy Store. He performed alongside Steve Coogan & Peter Kay at the Apollo Theatre Manchester and landed a role in channel 4’s “Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere”. He also appeared in “The Laughter Show” at the North Pier Blackpool with Mick Miller, Roy Walker, & Duncan Norvelle. He also appeared on Granada Programmes “Behind The Scene” and “That’s Entertainment” and was voted “Entertainer of the Year” at the inaugural Red Rose Awards.

During the last few years Steve has supported Peter Kay many times and had a part in the TV comedy, “Phoenix Nights”. Other television appearances include “Stand-up Britain”, “Give Your Mate A Break”, “The Afternoon Show”, “Talk Of The North”, a “Real Radio” advert, a straight acting role in “The Things You Do For Love”, and a medical insurance commercial for “Medicash”.

He has toured with Dave Spikey on his “Overnight Success tour”, performed with the cast of “Phoenix Nights” and Badly Drawn Boy to over 5 thousand people at the Europa Festival in Manchester, and up until last year, performed every summer as “Mad Edgar” (a jester character he first invented 10 years ago, the popularity of which has resulted in over 2000 “Crazy Juggling Shows”) at Camelot Theme Park.

Steve is also co-founder of the “Slaughterhouse-Live” (“Laughter” with an “S”) character comedy nights. The group has had three successful performances at The Lowry Theatre, Salford, with a fourth coming up on July 15th. They have taken the Edinburgh Festival Fringe by storm with sell out shows and rave reviews for two years running. They won the “Best Comedy Show” award at The Brighton Fringe Festival 2005 and were runners-up in the “best touring show” category at the Manchester Comedy Awards 2004.

In 2002 Steve performed at the World Cup Finals in Japan where he entertained at various festivals as part of a comedy group, proving that he can even bridge the language barrier when it comes to entertaining! In 2001 he was resident at The World Famous Blackpool Tower and was nominated as “Best Newcomer” at the Leisure Parcs awards. The same year he appeared in two summer season shows with Mick Miller at The Wintergardens and Bernie Clifton and The Bachelors at The North Pier. He spent two winters aboard cruise ships and has appeared in Pantomime every Christmas for the last 8 years.
